The Big Five (also called the Five-Factor Model or OCEAN) describes personality on five broad traits. This free test uses the 50 public-domain IPIP Big-Five Factor Markers (Goldberg, 1992): 10 statements per trait, each rated on a five-point scale by how accurately it describes you. It takes about 8 minutes, needs no sign-up and shows your results straight after the last statement.
A score for each trait with a plain-language interpretation, a radar chart of your profile and a percentile for every trait, compared with 19,718 public responses to the same 50 items (Open-Source Psychometrics Project). You can also have the report emailed to you.
Anyone who wants a research-based picture of their own personality, and coaches, leaders and HR professionals looking for a free, transparent starting point for self-reflection and development conversations.
Your answers are scored in your browser and are not sent to a server unless you ask for the email report. Details: privacy policy.
Yes. The test and the full on-screen results are free, with no registration and no payment. The emailed report is optional.
The International Personality Item Pool (IPIP) is a public-domain collection of personality items for research. This test uses the 50-item IPIP Big-Five Factor Markers by Lewis R. Goldberg (1992), which measure the five traits of the Five-Factor Model with 10 statements each.
About 8 minutes for 50 statements. Your answers are saved in this browser as you go, so you can close the page and continue later.
Each trait score is compared with 19,718 public responses to the same 50 items in the Open-Source Psychometrics Project dataset, scored the same way. A percentile of 70 means your score is higher than that of 70% of those respondents.
No. It is a self-reflection and educational tool, not a clinical diagnosis or a professional psychological assessment. Organisations that need an assessment built for their own roles can ask Y2Y for a custom assessment.
